Braves Hold Off Bulldogs’ Rally for Road Victory

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Interstat) — Alcorn State built an early eight-run lead and survived a late push by Alabama A&M to secure an 8-6 win in Southwestern Athletic Conference baseball Saturday evening at Bulldog Field.

The Braves (2-15) sent 12 men to the plate in a six-run first inning, capitalizing on an error to fuel the outburst. Kayden Sutton earned the win with a strong start, allowing four earned runs over 7 2/3 innings. The Bulldogs (4-14) outhit Alcorn State 11-6 but stranded key runners. A three-run double by Bryan Walker in the sixth and a two-run error in the eighth brought Alabama A&M close, but Hayden Konkler recorded the final four outs for the save.

The victory snapped a seven-game skid for Alcorn State and evened the weekend series. The teams conclude the set Sunday.
