Pacific Routs San Jose State Behind Smith’s Bounce-Back Start
SAN JOSE, Calif. (Interstat) — Liam Smith rebounded from a disastrous prior outing with six strong innings, leading the Pacific Tigers to an 11-5 victory over the San Jose State Spartans on Tuesday.
Smith, who allowed five earned runs in just 1 1/3 innings last week, surrendered three runs on nine hits over six frames to earn the win. The Tigers’ offense provided ample support, pounding out 11 hits. Derek Bartram went 2 for 4 with a double, triple and two RBIs, while Robert Orr added a solo homer.
San Jose State’s Rocco Caballero hit a solo shot in the first inning. The Spartans scored two unearned runs in the ninth. Pacific improved to 6-6, while San Jose State fell to 4-7.
