Pacific at San Jose State
Pacific, San Jose State Look to Gain Momentum in Midweek Clash
SAN JOSE, Calif. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking consistency will meet Tuesday when the Pacific Tigers visit the San Jose State Spartans in nonconference baseball action.
Pacific (5-6) arrives after a high-scoring, back-and-forth series at Grand Canyon, culminating in an 11-10 loss on Sunday. The Tigers have alternated wins and losses over their last six games.
San Jose State (4-6) looks to rebound from a 13-4 home loss to Saint Mary’s on Sunday, which snapped a brief winning streak. The Spartans have struggled to find offensive rhythm, scoring four or fewer runs in five of their last seven contests.
A key matchup will feature two of each team’s top performers. Pacific shortstop Robert Orr has been a driving force, collecting four RBIs in Sunday’s loss. Over his last seven games, Orr is 8-for-27 (.296) with two home runs and six RBIs.
For the Spartans, catcher Dylan Jackson provides power in the lineup. He homered and drove in two runs in Sunday’s defeat and has hits in four of his last five appearances.
On the mound, both teams will look to stabilize after recent struggles. Pacific’s Maddox Moreno provided 4 1/3 innings of relief with four strikeouts in Sunday’s loss, while San Jose State’s Dylan Smith logged four innings, allowing two earned runs against Saint Mary’s.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, Tuesday’s contest is projected to be a tight one, with a predicted final score of Pacific 5, San Jose State 4.
This game begins a busy homestand for San Jose State, which will host Pittsburgh for three games starting Friday. Pacific continues its road swing with a three-game series at Nevada beginning Friday.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. PDT at Excite Ballpark.
