Kansas State at Louisiana-Lafayette
Hot-Hitting Wildcats, Ragin’ Cajuns Set for Midweek Clash
LAFAYETTE, La. (Interstat) — Two teams riding winning streaks will meet Wednesday when the Kansas State Wildcats visit the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns at M. L. Tigue Moore Field.
First pitch is set for 55 degrees and clear skies.
Kansas State (6-1) has won six straight since a season-opening loss, including a 10-6 victory over Michigan on Sunday. The Wildcats’ offense has been potent, scoring 73 runs over its last six games.
Shortstop Dee Kennedy is a key catalyst. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs against Michigan and is 5 for 12 over his last three games.
Louisiana-Lafayette (5-2) has won four consecutive games, taking a weekend series from Maryland that culminated in a 15-inning, 6-5 victory Sunday. The Ragin’ Cajuns’ pitching staff will look to slow the Wildcats’ bats.
A player to watch for the home team is right-hander Cody Brasch, who delivered five scoreless innings of relief with six strikeouts against Maryland on Feb. 22.
The teams just met Tuesday, with Louisiana-Lafayette shutting out Kansas State. Wednesday’s game offers the Wildcats a quick chance for redemption.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, this contest could be a high-scoring affair, projecting an 8-7 Kansas State victory.
Kansas State begins a three-game home series with Columbia on Friday. Louisiana-Lafayette starts a weekend series against UC San Diego at home on Friday.
