Johnson Powers Green Wave Rout of Jaguars
MOBILE, Ala. (Interstat) — Nate Johnson drove in six runs and fell a double shy of the cycle Wednesday as Tulane routed South Alabama 15-2 at Eddie Stanky Field.
Johnson, who went 3 for 3 with a triple and a three-run homer, keyed a seven-hit attack for the Green Wave. James Agabedis added a grand slam in a decisive eight-run sixth inning.
Tulane pitchers Jack Brafa and J.D. Rodriguez combined for six hitless innings of relief. Nick Richardson’s two-run single in the seventh provided the only offense for the Jaguars, who managed just one hit.
Both teams are now 6-3. The result defied Interstat’s pregame projection, which gave South Alabama a 54.7% chance to win.
