Soles vs. Lobos Plateados
(Interstat) — The Soles will visit Lobos Plateados on Thursday in a quick rematch in the Mexican LNBP, one day after rolling to an 86-64 victory in the opener of the two-game series.
Soles (1-0) took control Wednesday behind forward Connor Zinaich, who played 32 minutes and finished with 22 points, six rebounds and one assist. He also blocked five shots. Zinaich has been a steady contributor recently: He had 14 points against Gambusinos on July 31, 10 points in a shorter outing against Gambusinos on July 30, and eight rebounds to go with five points in a July 26 loss at Fuerza Regia.
Erik Thomas and Gui Deodato also keyed Wednesday’s win. Thomas supplied 17 points and eight rebounds, while Deodato scored 15 points for Soles, whose lone game of the season has been the victory over Lobos Plateados.
Lobos Plateados (1-1) will look to even the series and avenge the lopsided defeat. Center Mike Myers led the home team on Wednesday with 18 points and seven rebounds. Myers also scored 12 points with five rebounds in a 79-71 win at Jal. Astros on Aug. 1, and he had 18 points and four rebounds in a 96-93 win over Cancun El Calor on July 23.
Tyran de Lattibeaudiere added 12 points and two rebounds for Lobos Plateados in Wednesday’s loss, and Shaquille Johnson scored 10 points.
Interstat’s ELO system projects Soles with an 81.60 percent probability of winning Thursday’s matchup.
Soles will continue their road stretch after the rematch, hosting Leon on Aug. 11-12 before traveling to San Luis Potosi on Aug. 15-16. Lobos Plateados will visit Aguascalientes on Aug. 11-12, then return home to face Dorados on Aug. 15-16.
