HERMOSILLO (Interstat) — Thomas Cooper scored 18 points and Lester Medford added 17 as Gambusinos defeated the Jal. Astros 86-71 on Friday. Gambusinos used a 32-point third quarter to break open a game that was tied at halftime. The Astros, who entered with a 77-13 record, fell to 77-14. Gambusinos improved to 6-14. Kelby Kramer contributed four points, nine rebounds and five blocks. Christian Alaekwe added 11 points and KiAndre Gaddy scored 13. Gage Davis led Jal. Astros with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Yoanki Mansia had 10 points and 12 rebounds. Paco Cruz scored 15 points. Gambusinos shot 50 percent from the floor and held the Astros to 34.2 percent. The Astros held a 48-31 rebounding edge but committed 12 turnovers to Gambusinos’ nine. Jal. Astros grabbed 22 offensive rebounds to Gambusinos’ seven.
