Gimnasia Indalo vs. Ferro Carril Oeste
OBERÁ, Argentina (Interstat) — Ferro Carril Oeste hosts Gimnasia Indalo on Saturday in a key Liga A matchup at Hector Etchart Arena, with both teams jockeying for position near the top of the standings.
Ferro (26-18) enters having won the most recent meeting between the clubs, a 74-70 home victory Thursday. Gimnasia (27-13) took the prior matchup 79-74 on May 25 in Comodoro Rivadavia. The season series is tied 1-1, with Gimnasia also winning 88-75 on Jan. 18 and Ferro taking an 84-72 decision on Nov. 22, 2025.
Gimnasia forward Anyelo Cisneros Sierra has been a primary factor in the series. In Thursday’s loss, he recorded 10 points and 14 rebounds in 34 minutes. In the May 25 win, he scored 19 points with eight rebounds in 28 minutes. Over his past seven games, Cisneros Sierra has averaged 12.6 points and 7.4 rebounds, including a 20-point, 12-rebound effort May 18 against Independiente.
Ferro guard Jano David Martinez led the home team Thursday with 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists in 32 minutes. He struggled in the May 25 loss at Gimnasia, scoring seven points on 3-of-12 shooting, but rebounded with 26 points in a 95-89 win at Regatas Corrientes on May 8. Martinez has averaged 10.9 points over his last seven games.
Gimnasia comes in after splitting a six-game series with Independiente earlier this month, winning four of the six meetings. The team went 3-1 at home during that stretch but lost both road games. Ferro is 2-3 in its last five games overall, with wins against Regatas Corrientes and the May 28 victory over Gimnasia.
Saturday’s contest carries playoff implications for the Liga A standings. Gimnasia holds a one-game lead over Ferro in the loss column and will look to reclaim momentum on the road after dropping the series opener. Ferro aims to build on Thursday’s defensive effort, holding Gimnasia to 38.5 percent shooting in the second half.
Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. local time.
