VALENCIA, Venezuela (Interstat) — Eric Romero scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Carabobo Trotamundos past the Margarita Guaiqueries 67-63 on Tuesday night at Forum de Valencia.

Ricky Ledo added nine points and Donta Smith contributed nine points, six rebounds and five assists for the Trotamundos, who improved to 17-10. Margarita fell to 16-11.

Carabobo built a narrow lead in the close contest and held off the Guaiqueries down the stretch. Edson Tovar scored three points for the Trotamundos. Fernando Monteil added six points and Anthony Reyes had seven points with one assist.

Margarita shot from the floor and from three-point range at lower percentages than their opponent, though exact figures were unavailable. The Guaiqueries also struggled from the free-throw line.

The win avenged a 72-67 loss to Margarita on Friday and gave Carabobo a split of the two-game set, following a 73-56 victory Monday. The Trotamundos now lead the season series 3-2.

James Reese V had four points and three rebounds for Carabobo. Dontrell Brite scored five points and Yohanner Sifontes added five points and one assist. Miguel Ruiz grabbed five rebounds for the Trotamundos.
