Flamengo vs. UNICEUB
BRASÍLIA, Brazil (Interstat) — A tightly contested Novo Basquete Brasil matchup awaits Tuesday night when Flamengo visits UNICEUB at Ginasio da ASCEB.
Flamengo (33-18) enters on a high note after thrashing Corinthians 104-77 on April 30, a victory fueled by a balanced attack. Guard Shaquille Johnson posted 18 points and 10 assists in that win, and over his past seven games he has averaged 12.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists. Johnson’s playmaking will be critical for a Flamengo side that has gone 4-3 in its last seven contests, including a 95-75 win over Vasco da Gama and a 102-89 road victory at Botafogo.
UNICEUB (27-10) owns the better record and has won five of its last six games. The home side eked past Caxias Do Sul 71-70 on April 30, with forward Bruno Cardoso recording a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds. Cardoso has been a consistent force, averaging 14.0 points and 9.7 rebounds in his past six outings. On April 18, he posted 15 points and 10 rebounds in a 94-65 rout of Bauru, and he added 15 points and 12 rebounds in a 78-70 win at Caxias Do Sul on April 25.
The series has been remarkably close. UNICEUB won 89-87 at home on March 25, and earlier in November 2025 it prevailed 85-83 on Flamengo’s floor, both decided by two points. The home team has won each of the last two meetings, a trend UNICEUB hopes to extend.
Flamengo’s recent form includes a gritty 90-84 win over Cruzeiro and a 102-89 victory at Botafogo, but also a 94-65 loss at Nacional de Montevideo and an 81-58 defeat at home to Boca Juniors. Consistency has been elusive for the visitors, who have alternated wins and losses over their past six games.
UNICEUB, by contrast, has been rock-solid at home, and its depth was on display against Caxias Do Sul when guards Kevin Crescenzi (23 points) and Facundo Corvalan (16 points, 6 assists) complemented Cardoso’s double-double.
Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. local time. The winner will gain important positioning in a crowded NBB standings race.
