Paulistano vs. Pinheiros

SAO PAULO (Interstat) — Paulistano visits Pinheiros on Monday in a Brazilian NBB matchup at Ginasio Poliesportivo Henrique Villaboim, with both teams jockeying for playoff positioning.

Paulistano enters with a 26-11 record, while Pinheiros stands at 31-8. The home team has won the past two meetings, including an 80-68 victory on Feb. 19, 2026. Paulistano won the earlier matchup this season, 81-76, on Nov. 6, 2025.

Paulistano point guard Edson Tovar has been a consistent force. In his last seven games, he averaged 8.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 19.4 minutes. He posted a triple-double on April 18 against Pato Basquete (13 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists) and scored 13 points with eight rebounds in a 71-62 win over Bauru on April 29. Tovar also contributed nine points in a 95-80 win at Bauru on April 24.

Pinheiros power forward Afonso Pacheco has been productive in limited minutes. He scored 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting in 16 minutes during a 94-88 overtime win at Ulbra on April 26. Over his past five games, Pacheco averaged 5.6 points and 4.2 rebounds in 14.8 minutes. He also grabbed five rebounds in an 88-55 victory over Pato Basquete on April 16.

Pinheiros enters on a three-game winning streak, including a 95-80 home win over Ulbra on April 21. The team’s depth was key in the overtime win at Ulbra, with guard David Sloan dishing eight assists and center Yan Barbosa adding 14 points and nine rebounds.

Paulistano has won four of its past five, the only loss coming at Bauru (88-75) on April 26. Center Lucas Siewert had 14 points and seven rebounds in the win over Bauru on April 29, and forward Guilherme Abreu contributed 10 points, six rebounds and two assists.

Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. local time. The game will feature two of the NBB’s top offenses, with Pinheiros averaging 84.2 points per game and Paulistano averaging 81.7. Both teams are vying for a top seed in the postseason, making Monday’s contest critical for momentum.

Tovar will look to exploit Pinheiros’ perimeter defense, while Pacheco’s ability to stretch the floor from the power forward spot could open lanes for the home team’s guards. The series is tied 1-1 this season, and the winner will claim the season series advantage.
