Paulistano vs. Bauru

BAURU, Brazil (Interstat) — Paulistano visits Bauru on Sunday at Ginasio Panela de Pressao in a Novo Basquete Brasil matchup featuring two teams headed in opposite directions.

Paulistano (25-10) enters as the clear favorite, while Bauru (17-18) seeks to reverse a four-game losing streak. The teams met Friday, with Paulistano winning 95-80 on the same court.

Forward Lucas Siewert has been Paulistano’s most consistent performer. In his last six games, he has scored in double figures five times, including a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double in Tuesday’s 80-77 win over Bauru. Siewert also posted 17 points against Pato Basquete on April 18 and 14 points at Botafogo on April 3. His ability to stretch the floor and control the glass gives Paulistano a significant advantage.

Bauru will rely on Andre Barbosa, who despite the team’s recent struggles has been a force. Barbosa grabbed 18 rebounds and scored 14 points in the loss to Paulistano on Tuesday. He also recorded 20 points and 11 rebounds against Franca on April 6 and 11 points with nine rebounds at Mogi das Cruzes on April 1. Barbosa’s production on the boards will be critical if Bauru hopes to slow Paulistano’s offense.

The head-to-head history favors the visitors. Paulistano has won all three meetings this season, including a 95-80 victory Friday, an 80-77 win Tuesday and an 89-87 decision Jan. 15. Paulistano has won six of its last seven games, with the only loss coming at Mogi das Cruzes on April 15. Bauru, meanwhile, has dropped four straight and six of its last seven.

Tipoff is scheduled for Sunday evening. The game marks the teams’ fourth and final regular-season meeting.
