Saskatoon vs. Calgary

CALGARY, Alberta (Interstat) — The Calgary Surge look to snap a three-game losing streak Wednesday when they host the Saskatoon Mamba at WinSport Event Centre in a Canadian Elite Basketball League matchup.

Calgary (7-8) has dropped its last three contests, including a 96-80 loss at Scarborough on Saturday. The Surge remain near the middle of the CEBL standings but have struggled to string together consistent performances, alternating losses with their last victory, a 90-79 win over Winnipeg on Aug. 22, 2025.

Center Javonte Brown has been a bright spot for Calgary. In Saturday’s loss, he logged 32 minutes and recorded a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds, adding four blocks. Over his last five games, Brown, listed at 6-foot-10, has averaged 11.0 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting efficiently in the paint. His ability to protect the rim and clean the glass will be critical against a Saskatoon team that has struggled to score consistently.

Saskatoon (1-5) enters on a five-game skid after its 105-85 loss at Fraser Valley on Saturday. The Mamba’s lone win came May 29 against Winnipeg, a 100-98 nail-biter at home.

Forward Jaylin Williams has been Saskatoon’s most productive player in recent outings. In Saturday’s loss, he recorded 25 points and five rebounds in 31 minutes. Williams has shown scoring bursts (Interstat) — he dropped 26 points in a 107-103 loss at Scarborough on May 21 (Interstat) — but has also been inconsistent, scoring just two points in a loss at Montreal on May 19. He averages 14.6 points and 4.8 rebounds over his last five games, making him the focal point of the Mamba offense.

Wednesday’s game tips off at 7 p.m. MT. Calgary will look to regain momentum before a road trip to Winnipeg on Friday, while Saskatoon seeks its second win of the season.
