Arecibo vs. San German

SAN GERMAN, Puerto Rico (Interstat) — The San German Atleticos host the Arecibo Capitanes on Sunday, June 7, 2026, in a Baloncesto Superior Nacional matchup at Arquelio Torres Ramirez Coliseum.

San German (14-9) holds a slight edge over Arecibo (13-8) in the overall standings. The Atleticos are coming off a 90-88 home victory Wednesday against Aguada, while the Capitanes have lost two straight, most recently a 101-92 defeat at home Thursday to Ponce.

Forward Montrezl Harrell has been a consistent force for San German. In his last five games, Harrell has posted four double-doubles, including a 29-point, 12-rebound effort Wednesday. He also grabbed 18 rebounds in a 95-92 loss at Santurce on May 30 and scored 21 points with 10 boards in a 84-68 win at Ponce on May 22.

Guard Derrick Walton leads the backcourt for Arecibo. Despite the team’s recent struggles, Walton has been a primary facilitator, dishing 12 assists against Ponce on Thursday and 15 assists in a 95-85 win at Mayaguez on May 23. His scoring has been limited recently, with seven points in each of his past two games.

The teams met May 3 in Arecibo, with the Capitanes winning 90-85. That result remains a close reference point as both teams jostle for position in the BSN standings.

Arecibo’s recent slide includes a 113-79 loss to Caguas on June 2 and an 88-82 loss at Quebradillas on May 31. San German has alternated wins and losses over its past five games, with victories over Aguada (twice) and Ponce, but losses to Santurce and Aguada.

Key contributors for Arecibo beyond Walton include forward Cady Lalanne, who scored 14 points Thursday, and small forward R.J. Melendez, who added 17. For San German, guard Andre Curbelo contributed 13 points and eight assists Wednesday, and shooting guard Jorge Pacheco-Ortiz scored 14 points.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. AST.
