Carolina vs. Guaynabo

GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico (Interstat) — The Carolina franchise visits the Guaynabo Mets on Friday at Mario Morales Coliseum in a Baloncesto Superior Nacional matchup.

Carolina (12-9) rides a two-game winning streak after an 85-80 victory at Ponce on Sunday. Forward Dyondre Dominguez posted 19 points and 12 rebounds in that win, his second double-double in three games. However, Dominguez has been inconsistent this month, scoring four points on 1-of-5 shooting against Bayamon on May 21 and tallying five points against Caguas three days earlier. In Carolina’s 96-76 rout of Guaynabo on May 9, he played three minutes and grabbed one rebound.

Guaynabo (8-11) has lost three of its last four, including a 104-101 defeat at Caguas on Monday. Point guard Brandon Knight led the Mets with 26 points, five rebounds and nine assists in that game. Knight has averaged 21.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 6.6 assists over his past five games, but he shot 5 of 13 for 12 points in the May 9 loss to Carolina.

The teams have split their season series, each winning on its home floor. Guaynabo took the first meeting 98-94 on April 23, and Carolina answered with the 20-point win May 9.

Carolina guard Tremont Waters scored 24 points against Ponce, and center George Conditt added seven points and eight rebounds. For Guaynabo, center Ismael Romero (16 points, nine rebounds Monday) and guard Jaysean Paige (21 points) provide additional scoring.

Both teams face quick turnarounds: Carolina visits Manati on Monday, while Guaynabo travels to Ponce on Tuesday.
