Niagara vs. Ottawa

OTTAWA (Interstat) — The Niagara River Lions visit the Ottawa Blackjacks on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at TD Place in a Canadian Elite Basketball League matchup featuring two teams jostling near the bottom of the standings.

Niagara enters with a 6-9 record after a 75-69 loss at Scarborough on June 21. Ottawa is 7-10 following an 88-86 home win over Scarborough on June 23. The Blackjacks won the most recent head-to-head meeting, 91-85 at home on May 18.

The River Lions will lean on guard Khalil Ahmad, who has been a volatile offensive force. Ahmad logged 37 points, six rebounds and nine assists in a 101-84 win at Hamilton on June 15, but followed with nine points in a blowout loss to Saskatoon and 24 in the loss to Scarborough. He has scored 20 or more points in three of his past five outings, playing at least 28 minutes in each.

Ottawa counters with guard Justin Harmon, who delivered 21 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the win over Scarborough. Harmon posted 36 points, eight rebounds and six assists in a 114-105 win over Fraser Valley on June 2, but has been inconsistent since, failing to reach double figures in two of his past four games. He has logged heavy minutes, playing at least 30 minutes in four of his past five contests.

Both teams are seeking consistency. Niagara has alternated wins and losses over its past six games, while Ottawa has lost four of its past five. Sunday’s result could provide early momentum ahead of a return matchup July 4 at Niagara.
