Xalapa vs. Dorados
CHIHUAHUA, Mexico (Interstat) — A key matchup in the Mexican LNBP’s regular season is set for Saturday as the Dorados de Chihuahua (9-5) host Xalapa (8-6) at Gimnasio Manuel Bernardo Aguirre.
The game features two of the league’s top teams battling for positioning in the standings. The Dorados enter with a one-game lead over the visiting Xalapa squad. According to Interstat’s game simulator, the home-court advantage is significant, projecting a 79-74 victory for Dorados.
Both teams are coming off games against Irapuato with differing results. Dorados is riding high after a dominant 92-66 road victory on Sunday. Mike Myers led the way with 16 points and 7 rebounds in just 20 minutes of play, supported by Charles Mitchell’s 14 points and 6 rebounds.
Conversely, Xalapa is looking to rebound from a narrow 88-86 home loss to Leon on the same day, despite a strong performance from Fernando Zurbriggen, who nearly recorded a triple-double with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Gabriel Giron added 17 points in the defeat.
The teams are familiar with each other, having just faced off on Friday, Sept. 19, though the result of that contest was not provided.
Xalapa’s season has been marked by inconsistency, alternating wins and losses in their recent stretch. The Dorados have found more rhythm, winning five of their last six games, with their only blemish a two-point loss to Cancun El Calor on Sept. 8.
Following this contest, Dorados will hit the road for a two-game series at San Luis Potosi on Sept. 26-27. Xalapa returns home to host Soles on those same dates.
