Soles vs. Leon

LEON DE LOS ALDAMA, Mexico (Interstat) — Justin Moss scored 28 points to lead Soles to a dominant 118-86 victory over Leon in a Mexican LNBP game on Thursday night at Domo de la Feria.

The game was never close as Soles, the visiting team, built a 52-39 halftime lead before exploding for 37 points in the third quarter to put the contest out of reach. The 32-point margin of victory far exceeded projections from Interstat, whose game simulator had forecast a much closer Soles win, 85-78.

Soles (14-2) was efficient on offense, shooting 64 percent from the floor and a near-perfect 30 for 32 from the free throw line. The team’s offensive rating of 149.0 on 79 possessions underscored a potent scoring performance. Leon (2-16) struggled to keep pace, shooting 45 percent from the field and committing 12 turnovers.

Moss, a power forward from Detroit, Michigan, was the game’s high scorer, compiling his 28 points and six rebounds in just 22 minutes of play. He was one of five Soles players to score in double figures. Point guard Joshua Webster facilitated the offense with 11 assists and 15 points. Connor Zinaich added a well-rounded stat line of 12 points, eight rebounds, five assists and five blocks.

For Leon, Joseph Ruben Soto, a point guard from Oxnard, California, led the team with 16 points and four rebounds. Quarry Greenaway contributed 14 points off the bench.

The win extends Soles’ strong start to the season, while Leon remains near the bottom of the league standings. The two teams had just met the previous night, with Soles earning a 90-83 win.

Soles next travels to face Xalapa for a two-game series on Sept. 26 and 27. Leon will host Jal. Astros on the same dates.
