Soles vs. Leon

LEON DE LOS ALDAMA, Mexico (Interstat) — The surging Soles, owners of the best record in the Mexican LNBP, look to continue their dominant season Wednesday when they visit the struggling Leon at Domo de la Feria.

Soles (12-2) enters the contest riding a wave of decisive victories, most recently a 92-60 rout of Zacatecas on Sunday. The team’s offense has been prolific, averaging over 90 points per game in their last five outings. Key contributors include guards Lucas Martinez and Donald Sims, who combined for 33 points in the win, and forward Justin Moss, who provides a strong presence in the paint.

Their success stands in stark contrast to that of their hosts. Leon (2-14) has found wins hard to come by, though it is coming off a narrow 88-86 victory over Xalapa on Sunday. That win, only its second of the season, was fueled by an outstanding 31-point, 7-assist performance from point guard Joseph Ruben Soto. Center Makhi Mitchell and forward Daniel Soto also posted double figures in scoring.

Despite Leon’s recent breakthrough, the matchup appears lopsided on paper. Statistical models heavily favor the visitors. Interstat’s game simulator projects an 85-78 victory for Soles, while its ELO rating system gives Soles an 85.10 percent probability of winning.

The game is the first of a back-to-back set between the two teams at Domo de la Feria, with the second matchup scheduled for Thursday. Soles will then travel to face Xalapa next weekend, while Leon will host the Jalisco Astros.

Tip-off is set for Wednesday night.
