TORONTO (Interstat) — Breanna Stewart scored 27 points and added eight rebounds, four assists and one block as the New York Liberty defeated the Toronto Tempo 106-69 on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026, at Coca Cola Coliseum. New York improved to 26-16, while Toronto fell to 11-30. The game drew 8,210 fans. New York was the visiting team, and Toronto was the home team. The Liberty avenged a 93-91 loss at Toronto on July 12.

New York controlled the game from the opening minutes. Laura Juskaite gave Toronto an early lead with a driving layup assisted by Kiki Rice, but Stewart answered with a running layup off a Sabrina Ionescu pass. Rice kept Toronto close with a 19-foot pullup jumper, a driving layup and a 14-foot driving floating jump shot. Stewart made a 14-foot pullup jumper and a driving layup, while Julie Allemand added a driving layup for the Tempo. New York’s outside shooting helped it build a cushion. Jonquel Jones hit a 24-foot 3-pointer, Rebekah Gardner made a 24-foot 3, Rebecca Allen connected from 23 feet, and Han Xu made a 23-foot 3. Stewart also scored in the paint and at the free-throw line. Teonni Key and Kia Nurse made free throws for Toronto, and Juskaite added two free throws. Pauline Astier scored late for New York, and Rice answered with a 13-foot pullup jumper before the quarter ended. New York led 26-19 after the opening period.

The Liberty extended their advantage in the second quarter. Marine Johannes opened the period with a 24-foot 3-pointer. Rice scored for Toronto, and Jonquel Jones made a free throw. Leonie Fiebich hit a 23-foot 3-pointer from Ionescu. Juskaite made two free throws and a driving floating jump shot, and Rice scored again. Ionescu made two free throws, Juskaite scored inside, and Stewart made two free throws. Allen connected from 24 feet off a Han Xu assist. Rice hit a 23-foot step-back 3-pointer, and Juskaite scored again. Ionescu made another free throw. Isabelle Harrison hit a 25-foot 3-pointer for Toronto. Stewart made a two-point shot, and Astier made a layup from Ionescu just before halftime. New York led 45-37 at the break.

New York broke the game open in the third quarter. Astier made an 11-foot two-point shot, and Stewart made free throws, a pullup jumper, driving floating jump shots and a step-back jumper. Jonquel Jones made a layup and a 27-foot 3-pointer. Ionescu made a 24-foot running jump shot. Fiebich hit a 27-foot 3-pointer. Juskaite tried to keep Toronto close with driving layups, two-point shots and free throws. Temi Fagbenle made a 4-foot floating jump shot, and Teonni Key made a 3-foot layup. Isabelle Harrison made two free throws for Toronto. New York outscored Toronto 33-20 in the third quarter and led 78-57 going into the fourth.

The Liberty pulled away in the final period. Fagbenle made a layup for Toronto, but Astier answered with a 23-foot 3-pointer. Han Xu made a 13-foot jumper. Rice made an 18-foot step-back jumper, Juskaite made a finger roll layup, and Allemand made a 20-foot step-back jumper for Toronto. Allen made a driving layup and a 22-foot 3-pointer. Marine Fauthoux made a driving layup and a 24-foot 3-pointer. Marine Johannes hit a 26-foot 3-pointer. Madison Scott scored on a driving layup and a 13-foot two-point shot. Han Xu made a 1-foot layup. Fauthoux added two more driving layups in the final minute. Toronto got late baskets from Ornella Bankole and Teonni Key, but New York closed out the 106-69 win. New York scored 28 points in the fourth quarter, while Toronto scored 12.

New York scored 106 points from 85 possessions, an offensive rating of 125.3. Toronto scored 69 points from 81 possessions, an offensive rating of 85.1. The Liberty shot 39 of 69 from the floor, 16 of 37 from 3-point range and 12 of 16 from the free-throw line. The Tempo shot 27 of 72 from the floor, 2 of 22 from 3-point range and 13 of 15 from the free-throw line. Toronto had 11 offensive rebounds to New York’s eight. The Liberty had eight assists, and the Tempo had nine. New York recorded seven blocks. New York committed 16 turnovers, and Toronto committed 13. The Liberty were called for 20 fouls, while the Tempo were called for 21.

Laura Juskaite, a 6-foot-4 forward from Skuodas, Lithuania, led Toronto with 28 points and two rebounds in 30 minutes. Kiki Rice, a 5-foot-11 guard from Bethesda, Md., added 19 points and five assists in 30 minutes. Julie Allemand, a 5-foot-10 guard from Liège, Belgium, had four points, five rebounds and four assists. For New York, Stewart, a 6-foot-4 forward from North Syracuse, N.Y., finished with 27 points, eight rebounds, four assists and one block in 22 minutes. Stewart had 24 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Minnesota on Sept. 18. Pauline Astier, a 5-foot-11 guard from Tarbes, France, had 10 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Rebecca Allen, a 6-foot-2 guard from Melbourne, Australia, had 14 points, two rebounds, one assist and two blocks. Jonquel Jones, a 6-foot-6 center from Freeport, Bahamas, had 11 points, three rebounds, one assist and two blocks. Sabrina Ionescu, a 5-foot-11 guard from Walnut Creek, Calif., had six points, three rebounds and nine assists. Marine Johannes, a 5-foot-10 guard from Lisieux, France, had nine points, three rebounds and three assists. Marine Fauthoux, a 5-foot-9 guard from Pau, France, had nine points, two rebounds and one assist.

Interstat’s game simulator projected New York to win 106-101, and its ELO system gave the Liberty a 75.1 percent win probability. New York was a pregame favorite with a spread of -13.5. The total score of 175 was recorded against an over/under line of 177.
