Seattle vs. Toronto

TORONTO (Interstat) — The Seattle Storm (1-1) visit the Toronto Tempo (0-1) in a WNBA matchup Wednesday at Coca-Cola Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.

Seattle is coming off an 89-82 win Sunday at Connecticut, its first victory of the season. Guard Flau’jae Johnson has been a key contributor early, averaging 14 points through two games. She posted 16 points, six rebounds, one assist and one block in 30 minutes against the Sun, following a 12-point, two-rebound effort in an 80-91 loss to Golden State on May 8. The Storm also got 17 points from guard Lexie Brown and 15 points and six assists from guard Jade Melbourne in the Connecticut win.

Toronto is seeking its first win after a 68-65 home loss to Washington on May 8. Guard Marina Mabrey led all scorers with 27 points, seven rebounds and two assists in 30 minutes, while forward Nyara Sabally added eight points and six rebounds. The Tempo are playing their second game of the season and will look to even their record before a three-game series at Los Angeles beginning Friday.

Johnson, a rookie guard out of LSU, has shown scoring versatility early for Seattle. Mabrey, a veteran guard, will be the focal point of Toronto’s offense after her 27-point outburst in the opener.

Seattle’s next game is Saturday at Indiana. Toronto heads to Los Angeles for a three-game set beginning Friday.
