Colgate Raiders at Boston University Terriers
BOSTON (Interstat) — Boston University will host Colgate in a women’s NCAA Division I hockey game Friday at Walter Brown Arena in Boston. The Raiders enter the matchup with a 4-0 record, while the Terriers are 1-2-1. Colgate will be the visiting team in a game that matches one of the nation’s early unbeatens against a Boston University side seeking consistency.
Colgate has opened the season with four straight wins, including a 2-1 victory over Saint Cloud State in its most recent outing. Chloe Goofers powered the Raiders with two goals, six shots on goal and one hit. Farah Walker made 30 saves in the win, and Madeline Palumbo added an assist. Goofers has been a central figure for Colgate, posting two goals and six shots on goal in the 2-1 win, a goal and an assist in a 4-2 victory over Saint Cloud State, and a goal at RIT. Colgate’s wins have come against Saint Cloud State and RIT, with the Raiders scoring at least four goals in three of those victories. The Raiders also earned a 4-2 home win over RIT and a 6-3 road win at RIT earlier this season. Their perfect start has been built on timely scoring and strong goaltending, and they will look to keep that combination intact on the road.
Boston University enters at 1-2-1 after a 2-1 win at Holy Cross in its most recent game. Sydney Fogu was pivotal in that result, stopping 34 of 35 shots. Neely Nicholson recorded a goal and an assist, while Lo Lachapelle scored once. Fogu has faced heavy volume this season, making 37 saves in a 4-1 loss at Wisconsin and 16 saves in a 7-0 loss at Wisconsin. The Terriers also skated to a 4-4 tie in two overtimes at New Hampshire. Boston University’s results include a tie and two losses on the road, plus the victory at Holy Cross. The Terriers have leaned on Fogu while searching for more consistent offense.
Fogu is the player to watch for Boston University, and her play in net will be critical against a Colgate offense that has started quickly. For Colgate, Goofers leads the offensive focus after her recent multi-point performances. The Raiders have shown they can win high-scoring games and tight defensive contests. Boston University will need Fogu to continue her strong work in goal and will count on Nicholson and Lachapelle to provide support. Walter Brown Arena will host the matchup, with the teams scheduled to complete the weekend series the following day.
