Robert Morris Colonials at Penn State Nittany Lions

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (Interstat) — Penn State will host Robert Morris in a women’s NCAA Division I hockey game Friday at Pegula Ice Arena. The Nittany Lions are the home team and enter 0-2, while the visiting Colonials are 1-1.

Penn State will look to generate offense after opening with two close losses to Ohio State. The Nittany Lions fell 2-1 in overtime in the first meeting and then dropped a 2-1 decision in the rematch. Grace Outwater has been a primary threat, scoring in each contest. She recorded one goal on four shots in the first game and added one goal on one shot with two penalty minutes in the second. Kylie Amelkovich registered two shots in the most recent game, and Alanna Devlin added two penalty minutes.

Robert Morris opened by splitting a pair of games against Post. The Colonials won 8-3 before falling 2-1 in overtime in the most recent meeting. Greta Brezenski has powered the attack, producing three goals and two assists on five shots in the 8-3 victory, then scoring one goal on four shots with two penalty minutes in the overtime loss. Rowyn Ringor helped create chances with one assist and eight shots in that game, while Jessica MacKinnon put five shots on goal.

Brezenski will be a player to watch as Robert Morris tries to solve a Penn State defense that has kept both of its games within one goal. Penn State will counter with Outwater, who has provided much of the team’s early scoring. The Nittany Lions aim to turn close defeats into a home victory, while the Colonials seek to build on a productive offensive start and earn a road result.

Pegula Ice Arena will host the matchup, with Robert Morris as the visiting team and Penn State as the home side. The game is part of the early-season schedule for both programs. Robert Morris will continue its road stretch after this contest, and Penn State will remain at home for its next game. The Colonials have shown the ability to score in bunches, but they have also played a tight, low-scoring game this season. The Nittany Lions have played two one-goal contests and will search for their first win.

Penn State’s schedule includes upcoming games against Syracuse and Lindenwood, while Robert Morris is set to face RPI and Syracuse in the coming weeks. The Colonials and Nittany Lions are scheduled to meet again in their next matchup for each team. That quick turnaround could make the game important for momentum in the early portion of the season.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a final score of Penn State 6, Robert Morris 1.
