Post Eagles at Robert Morris Colonials
ERIE, Pa. (Interstat) — Post will try to secure its first win of the season when the Eagles visit Robert Morris on Saturday at Mercyhurst Ice Center in Erie, Pa., in a women’s NCAA Division I hockey matchup.
Post enters with a current 0-3 record. The Eagles have been held scoreless in their past two games, including a 7-0 loss to Lindenwood and a 5-0 setback to Lindenwood. In their most recent outing, Post fell 8-3 at Robert Morris, the same opponent it will see again Saturday. The Eagles will need a more disciplined defensive effort and a stronger start to keep pace with the Colonials.
Robert Morris enters with a current 1-0 record. The Colonials opened their season with an 8-3 home win over Post and will be aiming to build on that performance. Robert Morris showed offensive depth in the first meeting and will look to control play in its home rink. The Colonials are scheduled to visit Penn State for two games after this matchup, then travel to RPI for two more before hosting Syracuse.
Anna Dosenbach is a player to watch for Post. In her most recent action against Lindenwood, Dosenbach stopped 17 of the 18 shots she faced. Her play in net could be critical as the Eagles try to slow a Robert Morris attack that produced eight goals in the teams’ most recent meeting. Post will also need support in front of her, limiting second-chance opportunities and avoiding penalties.
The Eagles’ upcoming schedule remains challenging after Saturday. Post is set to visit Quinnipiac, then will host Long Island and visit Long Island before a two-game series at Stonehill. Later, Post visits Merrimack and Franklin Pierce before hosting Saint Michael’s for two games.
Robert Morris will look to carry its early form into a busy stretch. After facing Post, the Colonials will play at Penn State twice, at RPI twice and host Syracuse twice. They also are scheduled to visit Minnesota State and face Yale before a trip to Lindenwood.
For Post, the focus will be on generating offense and protecting the puck. The Eagles have been outscored heavily during their 0-3 start and will need their best defensive game to stay within reach. Robert Morris, meanwhile, will aim to use home ice and its recent success against Post to remain unbeaten.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a final score of Robert Morris 2, Post 1. Interstat’s ELO system gives Robert Morris a 66.4 percent probability to win.
