Cornell vs. Yale

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (Interstat) — A marquee women’s college hockey matchup with postseason implications is set for the historic Olympic Center when the Yale Bulldogs host the Cornell Big Red on Friday, March 6, 2026.

The clash features two of the nation’s top teams, with Yale (25-7-1) looking to solidify its standing and Cornell (20-10-2) aiming to bolster its NCAA tournament resume. The game is a neutral-site contest in Lake Placid, though Yale is designated the home team.

The Bulldogs won the most recent meeting between the ECAC Hockey rivals, a 3-1 victory on Jan. 17. Cornell took the first matchup this season, 3-0, on Oct. 31. Both teams enter on hot streaks; Yale has won five of its last six, while Cornell rides a six-game winning streak.

The game pits two of the nation’s premier players against each other. Cornell’s success is anchored by goaltender Annelies Bergmann, who has been nearly impenetrable. During the Big Red’s six-game run, she has posted a .966 save percentage, including a 30-save performance in a 3-1 win over Colgate on Feb. 28. She has allowed just four goals in her last five starts.

Yale counters with dynamic center Jordan Ray, the engine of one of the country’s most potent offenses. Ray is coming off a dominant four-point performance (one goal, three assists) in a 6-1 rout of Union on Feb. 28. She has points in four of her last five games.

Yale’s offensive depth was on full display in that win, with defender Molly Boyle scoring twice and Gracie Gilkyson recording four assists. Cornell, meanwhile, saw production from beyond Bergmann in its latest win, with Georgia Schiff scoring a goal.

The Bulldogs’ high-powered attack, averaging over four goals per game during their recent surge, will face its toughest test in weeks against Bergmann. Conversely, Cornell must solve a stout Yale defense that has allowed two or fewer goals in three of its last five outings.

With the conference tournament on the horizon, Friday’s contest serves as a critical benchmark for both programs. A win for Yale would strengthen its case for a top seed, while a Cornell victory would provide a crucial quality win against a highly-ranked opponent. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. EST.
