Post at Assumption
WORCESTER, Mass. (Interstat) — A tightly contested weekend series concludes Sunday when the Assumption Greyhounds host the Post Eagles in a women’s NCAA Division I hockey matchup at Laska Gymnasium.
The Greyhounds (18-15-2) and Eagles (11-24-1) split the first two games of the series, setting the stage for a decisive rubber match. Post earned a 2-1 road victory on Saturday behind a 36-save performance from goaltender Hannah Saunders, leveling the series after Assumption’s 2-1 win on Friday.
Sunday’s contest pits two key players against each other. Post will again rely on Saunders, who has faced 89 shots over the series’ first two games, stopping 86. Her recent play has been a bright spot for the Eagles despite a challenging season. For Assumption, defender Justina Valentini remains a constant offensive threat from the blue line. She scored the Greyhounds’ lone goal in Saturday’s loss and has recorded points in four of her last seven games.
The season series is knotted at 2-2-1. Post’s victory Saturday avenged a 4-1 loss at Assumption on Jan. 10. The Greyhounds hold the overall edge in season performance and are projected as favorites. Interstat’s game simulator predicts a 4-1 Assumption win, while its ELO rating system gives the Greyhounds a 65.2% probability of victory.
Assumption will look to leverage its home ice and rebound from Saturday’s narrow defeat to solidify its winning record. Post aims to carry the momentum from its latest win and secure a series victory on the road. Puck drop is scheduled for Sunday, March 1, 2026.
