Delaware at Union
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Union women’s hockey team will look to capitalize on a home-ice advantage when they host the struggling Delaware Blue Hens in an NCAA Division I matchup Friday at Achilles Rink.
The Garnet Chargers (6-7-2) return home following a 3-2 loss to Colgate on Nov. 22. In that game, goaltender Monja Wagner made 36 saves, while forwards Maddie Leaney and Klara Kenttala each scored a goal. Union had previously earned a notable 4-3 victory over Cornell.
Delaware (2-14) enters on a four-game losing streak and has been shut out in three of its last four contests. The Blue Hens are coming off a 5-0 home loss to Lindenwood on Nov. 15. Goaltenders Charlotte Payne (24 saves on 26 shots) and Mattie Robitzer (11 saves on 14 shots) split time in the loss.
The matchup pits one of the nation’s lowest-scoring teams against a Union squad seeking consistency. The Blue Hens have been outscored 21-2 during their current skid.
Following Friday’s game, the two teams will meet again at Achilles Rink on Saturday.
