Skyhawks Rally to Edge Eagles in Overtime Thriller

WATERBURY, Conn. (Interstat) — Lily Barrett scored 7:45 into overtime to lift Stonehill to a 2-1 victory over Post in a women’s NCAA Division I hockey game Friday at Drubner Center.

Post’s Georgia Stevens opened the scoring late in the first period, assisted by Celena Mickevicius. The Eagles protected that lead until Stonehill captain Maddison Achtyl tied the game with 4:31 remaining in regulation, forcing overtime. Achtyl then assisted on Barrett’s game-winner.

Stonehill goaltender Eve Stone made 30 saves for the win. Post’s Hannah Saunders stopped 36 shots in the loss. Stonehill improved to 14-15-2. Post fell to 9-21-2. The teams meet again Saturday.
