URUMQI, China (Interstat) — Xinjiang defeated Jiangsu 70-63 in a women’s professional basketball game Wednesday.

The home team held off a late push from Jiangsu to even its season record at 8-8. Jiangsu, which had won the previous meeting between the teams last month, fell to 10-6.

Neither team shot efficiently from the floor in the defensive struggle. Beatrice Mompremier, a forward from Miami, Florida, led Xinjiang with a key performance.

Jiangsu was led by forward Zhenzhen Huang. The loss snapped Jiangsu’s two-game winning streak. Xinjiang next plays at Shandong on Sunday, while Jiangsu visits Shaanxi on Saturday.
