GEiEG Aims to Extend Win Streak Against Viladecans in LF Women’s Basketball Clash

BARCELONA, Spain (Interstat) — A surging GEiEG squad, riding a five-game winning streak, visits a struggling Viladecans team in a Spain LF women’s professional basketball matchup Wednesday.

The game tips off at 6 p.m. local time in Barcelona.

GEiEG (9-2) enters with the league’s best record and is coming off a dominant 102-69 victory over Spar Gran Canaria 2nd on Dec. 20. Forward Nuria Mitjanas powered that win with a double-double of 12 points and 14 rebounds, while Marina Melero added a team-high 18 points. The team’s last loss was a narrow 60-58 defeat to Olimpico Madrid on Nov. 15.

Viladecans (7-5) looks to rebound from a 64-47 road loss to Alcorcon on Dec. 20, its third defeat in the last four games. Laia Anducas led the team with 11 points in that contest. Viladecans’ season has been inconsistent, with notable wins mixed with double-digit losses.

The matchup features a contrast in recent form. GEiEG’s offense has averaged 77.6 points during its current streak. Viladecans has averaged just 54.5 points in its last four outings.

Key players to watch include GEiEG’s Mitjanas, who provides a major interior presence, and Viladecans’ Anducas, a consistent scoring threat. The home team will need to contain GEiEG’s balanced attack, which saw Julia Fernandez contribute 16 points in the last game.

This is the first meeting between the clubs this season. GEiEG’s next game is at GMASB on Jan. 18. Viladecans hosts Claret Valencia on Jan. 17.

The Spain LF is the top women’s basketball league in Spain.
