KOKSHETAU, Kazakhstan (Interstat) — Okzhetpes defeated visiting Zhetysu 77-62 in a women’s professional basketball game Monday. Okzhetpes moved to 2-0, while Zhetysu fell to 0-2. Anastassiya Lopatina led Okzhetpes with 26 points, five rebounds and six assists. Nadezhda Yakovleva added 17 points, eight rebounds and two blocks, and Oxana Ivanova had 13 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Okzhetpes shot 27 of 67 from the floor, 10 of 31 from three-point range and 13 of 18 from the free throw line. Zhetysu shot 21 of 59 from the floor, 3 of 14 from beyond the arc and 17 of 20 from the line. Aya Nurgozhanova scored 13 points for Zhetysu, Daria Kovaleva had 12 points and five rebounds, and Lyazzat Tursynova added 11 points and four assists. Zhetysu had 11 assists and 16 turnovers. Okzhetpes had 12 assists and 15 turnovers. Both teams collected 12 offensive rebounds. Okzhetpes led 26-14 after the first quarter, 45-28 at halftime and 63-40 through three quarters. Zhetysu scored 22 points in the fourth quarter, but Okzhetpes closed out the home win.
