Castors Braine vs. Lublin

LUBLIN, Poland (Interstat) — A rematch from just one week ago highlights the women’s professional basketball schedule in Poland on Thursday as Lublin hosts Castors Braine.

The teams last met on Jan. 15, with Lublin securing a 77-67 road victory. That result is indicative of the teams’ contrasting seasons. Lublin enters with a formidable 21-6 record, positioning them among the league’s elite, while Castors Braine sits at 6-3.

The visiting Castors will lean on forward Quay Miller, who recorded a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds in the previous matchup against Lublin. Supporting efforts in that loss came from DeYona Gaston (15 points, 9 rebounds) and Alicia Courthiau (13 points).

Lublin, however, boasts considerable momentum and a deeper roster. Center Kamila Borkowska is a key figure, coming off a 15-point, 10-rebound performance in a 68-55 win over 1KS Sleza on Jan. 18. In the Jan. 15 win over Castors Braine, Borkowska added 10 points and 7 rebounds. She is complemented by Dragana Stankovic, who had 16 points and 4 assists last outing, and guard Robbi Ryan, who dished 6 assists.

Lublin’s home court in Lublin has been a stronghold, and their recent form includes wins in four of their last five games. Castors Braine’s record, though solid, has been built against a different caliber of competition and will be severely tested.

The matchup, organized by the Poland league, tips off Thursday night. For Lublin, it’s a chance to solidify their standing and complete a regular-season sweep. For Castors Braine, it’s an opportunity for immediate redemption and a statement win against a top-tier opponent.
