Municipal vs. Olimpia

Preview: Municipal Looks to Extend Winning Streak Against Winless Olimpia

BUCHAREST, Romania (Interstat) — A matchup of starkly contrasting fortunes highlights the Romanian women’s professional basketball schedule Saturday as surging Municipal visits struggling Olimpia.

The game, scheduled for Feb. 7, 2026, pits a Municipal squad (9-5 across all competitions) riding a two-game winning streak against an Olimpia team (0-15) mired in a historically difficult season. Their previous meeting on Nov. 29, 2025, resulted in a 97-23 victory for Municipal.

Municipal enters following a dominant 81-40 win over Agronomia on Jan. 31. The team is led by forward Jazmyn Turner, who posted a double-double in that victory with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Turner has been a consistent force, averaging 13 points and 8.3 rebounds over her last four contests. She is complemented by Teodora Manea (18 points, 7 rebounds vs. Agronomia) and playmaker Lena Radulovic (15 points, 7 assists).

Olimpia, conversely, is reeling from a 124-19 road loss to Sepsi SIC on Jan. 30, one of several lopsided defeats this season. The team has failed to score 50 points in any of its last five games and has allowed an average of 113.8 points per contest in that span. Guard Ilinca Lihaci, who played 39 minutes and scored 7 points in the loss to Sepsi, will be a focal point for the home side.

Despite the clear trajectory of both clubs, the Interstat game simulator projects an improbable 100-100 tie. This forecast stands at odds with the recent evidence, including Municipal’s 74-point victory in the season’s first head-to-head meeting.

For Municipal, the game represents a critical opportunity to solidify its standing before hosting CSM Sportul on Feb. 14. For Olimpia, the search for a first win continues before a daunting road trip to Arad on the same date.

Tip-off is set for Saturday in Bucharest.
