ISTANBUL (Interstat) — An undefeated Galatasaray squad, fresh off a dominant start to its domestic campaign, will host Italian club Schio in a marquee non-league women’s basketball matchup on Thursday.

Galatasaray has opened the Turkey A season with a perfect 3-0 record, outscoring opponents by an average of 29 points. The team is coming off an 80-68 victory over Ormanspor on Sunday, led by a strong frontcourt performance from Elif Bayram, who recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Dorka Juhasz added 13 points and nine rebounds.

Schio, which competes in Italy’s top division, enters the contest with a 1-0 record after a commanding 76-52 win over Roseto on Oct. 4. Schio’s offense was fueled by a balanced effort, with Marieme Badiane scoring a team-high 15 points and Costanza Verona just missing a triple-double with nine points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

The game is part of a home-and-home series between the clubs, with the rematch scheduled for Oct. 30 in Schio, Italy. For Galatasaray, this begins a busy stretch of four games in 11 days, including a domestic road game against Besiktas on Saturday. Schio will continue its schedule on the road against San Martino this Sunday.
