Lulea vs. Norrkoping
Preview of Top Swedish Women’s Basketball Clash Set for Norrkoping
NORRKOPING, Sweden (Interstat) — A dominant Lulea squad, boasting the best record in Swedish women’s professional basketball, visits a surging Norrkoping team in a high-stakes matchup on Saturday, March 7.
Lulea (20-2 across all competitions) enters on a blistering nine-game winning streak, having won those contests by an average margin of 33.2 points. Their most recent outing was a 104-72 rout of Ostersund on Feb. 27. Norrkoping (13-9) has found its form with five consecutive victories, including an 84-69 road win over Malbas on March 1.
The visiting powerhouse is led by guard Jewel Spear, who has been in exceptional scoring form. Over her last five games, Spear is averaging 21.6 points in just 24.2 minutes per contest, including a 32-point, 6-rebound, 6-assist performance at Visby on Feb. 6.
Norrkoping will counter with forward Matilda Ahlberg, a consistent interior force. Ahlberg has averaged 13.2 points and 7.4 rebounds during the team’s five-game win streak, nearly posting a double-double with 14 points and 9 rebounds against Malbas.
The previous meeting this season heavily favors Lulea, which defeated Norrkoping 90-63 at home on Sept. 27, 2025. Lulea’s only two losses this season came on the road at Hogsbo (87-82) on Jan. 30 and against an unspecified opponent earlier in the campaign.
Norrkoping’s recent success follows a mid-season slump where it lost four of five games in January, including home defeats to Sodertalje and AIK. The team’s defense during its current streak, however, has been formidable, holding opponents to an average of 61.2 points.
Saturday’s game presents a classic test of an elite offense against a resurgent defense. Lulea has scored at least 104 points in three of its last five games. Norrkoping will aim to control the tempo and utilize Ahlberg’s presence inside to disrupt Lulea’s rhythm and challenge its league supremacy.
The game will be played at Norrkoping’s home venue in Norrkoping, Sweden.
