IK Eos vs. Alvik

Preview: IK Eos at Alvik, Women’s Professional Basketball

STOCKHOLM (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum to salvage their seasons will meet Saturday when IK Eos visits Alvik in a Swedish women’s professional basketball matchup.

The game, scheduled for March 21, 2026, in Stockholm, pits clubs with nearly identical disappointing records. The visiting IK Eos sit at 8-15 across all competitions, just one game ahead of the 7-16 Alvik.

IK Eos will look to replicate their success from the teams’ first meeting this season, a 103-94 home victory over Alvik on Dec. 6, 2025. However, they enter on a down note, coming off a 62-82 road loss to Ostersund on March 7. In that defeat, forward Azana Baines recorded a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds, while Ester Olsson led all scorers with 19 points.

Baines has been a consistent bright spot for Eos. In her last two games, she averaged 15 points and 13.5 rebounds, including a 19-point, 14-rebound performance in an 86-48 rout of Visby on March 1.

Alvik’s form is a greater concern, entering on a three-game losing streak where they have been defeated by an average margin of 29 points. Their most recent outing was a 42-74 home loss to Uppsala on March 5. Helene Haegerstrand led Alvik in that game with 14 points and seven rebounds.

Alvik’s last win came on Jan. 31, a 85-67 victory over Malbas. Their schedule has been unforgiving, but the home team will view this matchup as a prime opportunity to halt their slide and draw even with Eos in the standings.

The contest will likely hinge on which team can establish consistency. Eos has shown higher offensive potential but struggles with defensive lapses. Alvik must find a way to generate scoring beyond Haegerstrand to support a defense that has allowed 80 or more points in four of their last five losses.

With nearly identical records and postseason hopes fading, Saturday’s game represents a critical battle for pride and positioning heading into the final stretch of the season. Tip-off is set for Saturday in Stockholm.
