Alvik vs. AIK
Preview: Alvik Faces AIK in Women’s Basketball Clash
SOLNA, Sweden (Interstat) — A stark contrast in form will be on display Wednesday when the struggling Alvik women’s basketball team visits the surging AIK squad in a Swedish professional league matchup.
The game, set for Dec. 17, 2025, in Solna, pits teams at opposite ends of the competitive spectrum. AIK enters with an 8-3 record across all competitions, having won three of its last four games. Alvik, meanwhile, has lost five straight and sits at 3-7 on the season.
AIK is anchored by forward Ellen Hahne, who has been a consistent force. She is averaging 17 points and 6 rebounds over her last four contests, including a 16-point, 6-rebound performance in a 64-60 win over RIG Lulea on Dec. 13. Her defensive presence, with multiple blocks in three of those games, will challenge Alvik’s offense.
Alvik will rely on forward Sofie Ljungcrantz to spark an upset. She has scored in double figures in four consecutive games, averaging 18 points during that stretch. In the team’s most recent loss, a 67-64 defeat to Visby on Dec. 13, Ljungcrantz posted 13 points and 8 rebounds. Support from guard Shiloh Kalenga, who led Alvik with 17 points in that game, will be crucial.
The teams’ recent trajectories point to a challenging night for the visitors. Alvik’s losing streak includes several high-scoring defeats, with opponents averaging 92.5 points in their last two road losses. AIK has shown an ability to win close, defensive battles, as evidenced by the victory over Lulea, and in higher-paced affairs, like a 90-75 win over Norrkoping on Dec. 6.
This contest opens a critical two-game stretch for both sides before a short holiday break. AIK will visit IK Eos on Saturday, while Alvik travels to face Norrkoping. The teams are scheduled to meet again in a rematch on Jan. 10, 2026, in Alvik.
Tip-off is Wednesday night in Solna.
