Preview: Torino Teen at Moncalieri in Italy A1 Women’s Basketball

MONCALIERI, Italy (Interstat) — A matchup of teams on opposite trajectories will highlight Italy A1 women’s professional basketball action Friday as the surging Torino Teen visits struggling Moncalieri.

The game, scheduled for April 3, 2026, in Moncalieri, pits a Torino Teen squad (15-8) firmly in the upper tier of the standings against a Moncalieri side (8-15) seeking to climb out of the lower half. The visitors have won seven of their last 10 games, while Moncalieri has managed just three victories in that same stretch.

Torino Teen will rely on forward Francisca Chukwu, who is coming off a dominant double-double performance in a road win. In her last outing, a 84-61 victory at Masnaga on March 21, Chukwu logged 35 minutes, scoring 14 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. She has been a consistent force, averaging 11.7 points and 7.3 rebounds over her last three contests.

Moncalieri’s hopes will rest heavily on forward Beatrice Olajide, who is fresh from a season-high scoring effort. Olajide poured in 24 points to go with six rebounds in a 78-71 road win over Salerno Basket on March 28. Her recent form has been a bright spot for the team, showcasing her ability to score and rebound at a high level.

The season series currently favors Torino Teen, which earned a 50-42 home win over Moncalieri on Dec. 20, 2025. In that defensive struggle, Torino Teen held Moncalieri to its second-lowest point total of the season.

Torino Teen’s backcourt, featuring Elisabetta Penz and Marion Heriaud, provides additional firepower. Penz dished out nine assists in the win over Masnaga. Moncalieri will counter with guard Beatrice Grosso, who recorded seven assists in the Salerno Basket victory, and scorer Marta Pellegrini.

Friday’s contest represents a critical opportunity for Moncalieri to build momentum from its most recent win and improve its playoff positioning. For Torino Teen, it is a chance to solidify its standing and complete a regular-season sweep of its regional rival. Tipoff is set for Friday evening at the Moncalieri arena.
