Bourges vs. Landes

Preview: Bourges Faces Landes in EuroLeague Women Clash

MONTPELLIER, France (Interstat) — A pivotal EuroLeague Women matchup features two of France’s top clubs Wednesday as Tango Bourges Basket visits Basket Landes at Mont de Marsan.

Landes (15-5 overall) enters with the superior record and home-court advantage, while Bourges (14-8) looks to build momentum and avenge a narrow early-season defeat. In their first meeting this season on Oct. 4, Landes secured a 58-53 road victory in Bourges.

The home side is led by dynamic guard Leila Lacan, who is coming off a dominant 23-point, 5-rebound, 4-assist performance in a 66-56 win over Landerneau on Jan. 4. Lacan has averaged 14.6 points over her last five games, providing consistent offensive firepower alongside backcourt partner Marie Pardon.

Bourges counters with forward Laetitia Guapo, a key two-way contributor. In the team’s most recent outing, an 82-52 rout of Chartres on Jan. 4, Guapo posted 9 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists in 20 minutes. Her versatility on defense will be crucial against Landes’s perimeter attack.

Both teams are riding winning streaks. Bourges has won four of its last five, including the decisive victory over Chartres where Monique Akoa Makani added 16 points and 5 assists. Landes has won three of its last four, with its only stumble in that span a home loss to Valencia on Dec. 18.

The game carries significant weight in the EuroLeague Women standings and the French League hierarchy. Landes’s efficient offense, averaging over 70 points in recent wins, will test a Bourges defense that has held opponents under 65 points in three of its last five victories.

Following this contest, Bourges hosts Flammes on Jan. 10, while Landes travels to face Charnay the same day.

Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. local time (1900 GMT) at the Espace Francois Mitterrand in Mont de Marsan.
