Zabiny Brno vs. Basket Ostrava
Preview: Zabiny Brno at Basket Ostrava
OSTRAVA, Czech Republic (Interstat) — A stark contrast in fortunes will be on display Sunday when the surging Zabiny Brno women’s basketball team visits the winless Basket Ostrava.
The matchup at Ostrava’s arena pits one of the league’s top teams against its most struggling side. Zabiny Brno enters with a 19-7 record across all competitions, while Basket Ostrava sits at 0-15.
The teams last met on Nov. 22, 2025, with Zabiny Brno delivering an 86-50 road victory. The rematch appears equally lopsided on paper. Zabiny Brno has won three straight games, including a 76-52 win over Sokol HK on Jan. 27. Basket Ostrava is reeling from a 127-36 loss to USK Praha on Jan. 25.
A key player for the visitors will be forward Stephanie Jones. She is coming off a dominant stretch, posting a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds in the win over Sokol HK and a 25-point, 14-rebound performance against Slovanka on Jan. 24. Her inside presence will be a primary concern for the home team.
Basket Ostrava will look to point guard Anna Jedlickova for leadership and production. She scored 14 points in a narrow 70-63 loss to Brandys nad Labem on Jan. 18 and had 11 points in the loss to USK Praha. Containing Zabiny Brno’s balanced attack, however, will be a monumental challenge for a team allowing an average of over 85 points per game in its recent outings.
For Zabiny Brno, this game represents a critical opportunity to solidify its standing before a massive Feb. 15 showdown against league powerhouse USK Praha. For Basket Ostrava, it is another chance to search for its elusive first victory of the season against a familiar foe.
Tip-off is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026, in Ostrava.
