Secil Kaucuk Mersin Basketball vs. Turgutlu
MANISA, Turkey (Interstat) — A surging Turgutlu squad will look to extend its winning streak and solidify its standing when it hosts a struggling Secil Kaucuk Mersin team in a Turkey A women’s professional basketball matchup on Saturday.
The game tips off at 7 p.m. local time at Manisa Arena.
Turgutlu (13-6) enters on a four-game winning streak, most recently notching an 85-75 road victory over Bodrum on Feb. 27. Forward Kennedi Jackson has been a force, averaging a double-double during the streak, including a 20-point, 12-rebound performance in the win over Bodrum. She is complemented by forward Mikayla Cowling, who nearly recorded a triple-double in that contest with 18 points, eight rebounds and nine assists.
In contrast, Secil Kaucuk Mersin (8-12) is reeling from a 93-54 home loss to Kirklareli on March 2, its third defeat in the last four outings. The team’s consistency has been an issue, alternating wins and losses for much of the calendar year before the recent skid.
A key matchup will be in the frontcourt between Turgutlu’s Jackson and Mersin’s Angela Tompkins. Tompkins is coming off a 15-rebound, five-assist effort in the loss to Kirklareli and has been a bright spot, averaging 14.3 points and 10.8 rebounds over her last four games. Her ability to control the glass will be critical for the visitors.
Despite Turgutlu’s superior record and current form, the head-to-head history offers a surprising twist. In their first meeting this season on Nov. 17, 2025, Secil Kaucuk Mersin dominated in a 73-46 home victory. Turgutlu will be eager to avenge that lopsided defeat.
A win would help Turgutlu maintain its position near the top of the league table, while Mersin desperately needs a victory to halt its slide and keep its postseason hopes alive.
