Burhaniye vs. Turgutlu

Preview: Burhaniye Visits Turgutlu in Women’s Basketball Clash

MANISA, Turkey (Interstat) — A stark contrast in form will be on display Saturday when the surging Turgutlu hosts struggling Burhaniye in a Turkey A women’s professional basketball game.

The matchup at Manisa arena features a home team riding high and a visitor desperate to halt a slide. Turgutlu enters with an 18-6 record across all competitions, firmly among the league’s elite. Burhaniye, at 10-15, has lost three of its last four and seeks momentum as the season progresses.

The teams last met on Dec. 27, 2025, with Turgutlu securing a 74-64 road victory. The rematch presents a similar challenge for Burhaniye, facing a Turgutlu squad that has been dominant, particularly at home.

A key battle will feature each team’s top performer. Burhaniye will lean on forward Sevval Oyan, who is coming off a 21-point, six-rebound effort in a loss to Kirklareli on April 11. She has averaged 18 points over her last two games. Containing her will be a primary focus for Turgutlu’s Ronahi Kiran, a dynamic force who posted 21 points, seven rebounds and three assists in a 94-39 rout of Edirne on April 5. Kiran has scored 14 or more points in three consecutive Turgutlu wins.

Turgutlu’s recent form is formidable. The team has won five straight games, including its last two by an average margin of 33 points. Their defense has been stifling, holding opponents to 57 points or fewer in three of those victories.

Conversely, Burhaniye has found consistent scoring difficult, failing to reach 70 points in four of its last five outings. Beyond Oyan, production has been uneven. Center Eylul Minez contributed 10 points and five assists in the last game, but the team will need a collective offensive surge to challenge Turgutlu’s balance.

Turgutlu’s supporting cast has been instrumental. Guard Sumeyya Ozcan and forward Meltem Topaloglu provide significant all-around play, as seen in their combined 19 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists in the April 5 win.

Tip-off is set for Saturday, April 18, in Manisa. Burhaniye aims to defy the odds and season trends, while Turgutlu looks to continue its march toward the top of the standings with another commanding performance.
