TGN Basquet vs. Maresme

Preview: TGN Basquet at Maresme in Spain LF Women’s Basketball

BARCELONA, Spain (Interstat) — A struggling TGN Basquet squad seeks a rare victory Saturday when it visits Maresme in a Spain LF women’s professional basketball matchup at Barcelona.

The game pits teams at opposite ends of the league’s form table. Maresme (10-13 overall) has shown competitiveness, having won three of its last five contests. Its most recent outing was a 77-59 road loss to Leon on March 21. TGN Basquet (2-20) carries a 10-game losing streak into the contest, last winning on Dec. 21. It fell 79-70 at Sanfer on March 21.

In the season’s first meeting on Dec. 13, Maresme secured a 66-59 road win over TGN Basquet.

The visiting side will lean heavily on forward Sara Torruella, who has been a consistent performer during the losing skid. She is coming off a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds against Sanfer and has averaged 13.3 points and 7.5 rebounds over her last four games.

Maresme counters with guard Ariadna Magrina, a key facilitator in its recent successes. In a three-game winning streak from Feb. 28 to March 7, Magrina averaged 9.7 points and 4.0 assists. She scored 11 points in the loss to Leon.

For TGN Basquet, support for Torruella in the last game came from Brigitte Lefebvre Okankwu, who neared a double-double with 9 points and 10 rebounds, and Alba Farell, who added 13 points.

Maresme’s Joana Navarro pulled down 7 rebounds against Leon, while Queralt Coll provided 12 points off the bench.

The matchup represents a critical opportunity for Maresme to stabilize its record before hosting Sanfer on April 11. TGN Basquet, facing a deep hole in the standings, aims to find a spark before its next home game against CBF Manresa on April 11.

Tip-off is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, in Barcelona.
