Segle XXI vs. Almeda
Preview: Segle XXI Looks to Rebound Against Struggling Almeda
BARCELONA, Spain (Interstat) — A matchup of teams heading in opposite directions will take place Saturday when the surging Segle XXI visits the struggling Almeda in a Spain LF women’s professional basketball game.
Segle XXI (17-4) arrives as one of the league’s top teams but is looking to bounce back from a rare loss. It fell 61-53 on the road to CB Isla Bonita on March 7, snapping a seven-game winning streak. Despite the defeat, standout performer Somtochukwu Okafor continued her strong play, contributing 13 points and seven rebounds in 26 minutes. Okafor has been a consistent force, averaging double-digit scoring in four of her last five outings.
They face an Almeda squad mired in a difficult season, holding a 5-16 record. Almeda has lost three consecutive games, most recently a 74-56 defeat at GMASB on March 8. In that contest, forward Andreea Cojocariu recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, highlighting her role as a key bright spot for the team.
The historical advantage firmly favors the visitors. In their previous meeting this season on Nov. 29, Segle XXI dominated Almeda 69-51. Segle XXI’s overall form has been formidable, with its only losses since mid-December coming against CB Isla Bonita and Viladecans.
For Almeda, the path to an upset likely requires a standout performance from Cojocariu and containing Okafor’s interior presence. Segle XXI, however, boasts greater depth and momentum, aiming to restart another winning streak as the season progresses.
The game is scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2026, in Barcelona.
