CAB Estepona Jardin de la Costa del Sol vs. Gran Canaria

Estepona Aims to Continue Momentum Against Struggling Gran Canaria

LAS PALMAS, Spain (Interstat) — A matchup of teams at opposite ends of the Liga Femenina (LF) standings will take place Wednesday when Estepona visits Gran Canaria at Las Palmas.

Estepona (11-15) enters with renewed confidence after a 62-53 victory over IDK Eustotren on Saturday. Gran Canaria (3-22), meanwhile, looks to halt a prolonged slump following a 111-66 home loss to powerhouse Valencia that same day.

The visitors hold a significant edge in the season series, having defeated Gran Canaria 80-64 on Jan. 7. Estepona’s success hinges largely on forward Sika Kone, who is coming off a dominant stretch. She recorded 20 points and 11 rebounds in the win over Eustotren and a 28-point, 14-rebound performance in a victory over Gernika Bizkaia on March 22.

Gran Canaria will counter with center Lala Toure, who managed 14 points and 18 rebounds against Valencia despite the lopsided defeat. Her production has been inconsistent, however, as she was limited to five points and six rebounds in a loss to Zaragoza on March 22.

Estepona has shown resilience, winning three of its last five contests. Key contributors include Madison Conner, who scored 14 points against Eustotren, and playmaker Melisa Gretter, who facilitates the offense.

Gran Canaria’s season has been defined by defensive struggles, allowing an average of 91.5 points in its last two games. The team has lost 10 consecutive matches, with its last win coming on Feb. 7.

For Estepona, this game represents a critical opportunity to solidify its position in the mid-table and build momentum for a tough upcoming schedule, which includes a meeting with Cadi La Seu on Saturday. Gran Canaria is searching for any sign of positive momentum before a difficult road trip to Gernika Bizkaia this weekend.

Tip-off is set for Wednesday night in Las Palmas.
