Zagreb vs. Split

Preview: Zagreb Looks to Extend Dominance Against Struggling Split

SPLIT, Croatia (Interstat) — A stark contrast in fortunes will be on display Saturday when the league-leading Zagreb women’s professional basketball team visits last-place Split.

The matchup at Split Arena features a Zagreb squad riding high at 10-3 across all competitions against a Split team mired in a 1-12 season. The teams’ first meeting this season on Oct. 18, 2025, was a brutal illustration of the gap, with Zagreb rolling to a 108-34 victory.

Zagreb enters on a two-game winning streak, most recently a 74-68 win over Rijeka on Jan. 17. They are powered by star guard Dragana Domuzin, who recorded a triple-double in that victory with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Domuzin is averaging 17 points, 8.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists over her last two games.

Split, meanwhile, is reeling from consecutive blowout losses, including a 96-56 defeat at Sibenik on Jan. 17. Guard Iva Tabak has been a rare bright spot, leading Split with 18 points and five assists in that contest. She will need a monumental performance to challenge Zagreb’s balance.

Beyond Domuzin, Zagreb boasts consistent contributors like forward Lea Hajdin, who scored 20 points against Rijeka, and guard Lana Packovski. Split will rely heavily on Tabak and forward Emanuela Vrgoc, who pulled down eight rebounds last game.

The historical data offers little hope for an upset. In their last 10 games, Zagreb has averaged 88.4 points per game while holding opponents to 66.7. Split has been outscored by an average of 40 points in its last two outings alone.

For Zagreb, the game represents a chance to solidify its top position before a Jan. 31 home game against Medvescak. For Split, it is another daunting test in a season full of them, with a trip to Ragusa looming next.

Tip-off is set for Saturday evening in Split.
