Preview: Estudiantes Visits Girona in Key Spain LF Women’s Basketball Clash

GIRONA, Spain (Interstat) — A matchup with significant standings implications unfolds Wednesday when Girona hosts Estudiantes in a Spain LF women’s professional basketball game.

Girona (28-11), among the league’s top teams, looks to rebound from a rare 75-67 road loss to Baxi Ferrol on April 4. The home side is anchored by center Mariam Coulibaly, who recorded a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds in that defeat. Coulibaly has been a consistent force, posting 13 points and 10 rebounds in a narrow win over Valencia on March 22.

Estudiantes (20-18), hovering near .500, arrives after a heartbreaking 85-82 home loss to Gernika Bizkaia on April 4, despite a stellar 29-point effort from forward Frieda Buehner. Buehner is the focal point for the visitors, coming off a 22-point, 12-rebound performance in a win over Araski on March 22.

The previous meeting this season favors Girona, which secured an 88-79 victory at Estudiantes on Nov. 23, 2025.

The contest pits Girona’s formidable home-court advantage against an Estudiantes team seeking a statement road win to solidify its playoff positioning. Containing Coulibaly in the paint will be a primary challenge for Estudiantes, while Girona’s defense must account for the versatile scoring of Buehner.

Tip-off is set for Wednesday at Girona’s home arena in Girona, Spain.
