Preview: Jairis Visits Joventut Badalona in LF Women’s Basketball Clash

BADALONA, Spain (Interstat) — A surging Jairis squad faces a Joventut Badalona team seeking consistency when the women’s professional basketball teams meet Wednesday in a Spain LF matchup at Pavelló Olímpic de Badalona.

Jairis (20-14) enters on a high note after a dominant 75-48 victory over Cadi La Seu on Saturday. The visiting side has won seven of its last 10 contests and sits firmly in the league’s upper tier. Joventut Badalona (9-17), meanwhile, is coming off a narrow 69-67 home upset of powerhouse Avenida, a result it hopes can spark a late-season push.

The matchup features a stark contrast in season trajectories. Jairis boasts a balanced attack, as seen in its latest win where Angela Mataix scored 17 points, Txell Alarcon added 13 points and eight rebounds, and center Billie Massey contributed 18 points. Mataix, averaging 13 points over her last two games, is a key player to watch for the visitors.

Joventut Badalona’s season has been defined by streaks, mixing impressive wins like the one over Avenida with prolonged losing stretches. Its defense will be tested by a Jairis offense that scored 120 points in a game last month.

History adds intrigue to this fixture. In their most recent meeting last October, Joventut Badalona edged Jairis 58-57, indicating the potential for a close contest despite the gap in their records.

For Joventut Badalona, protecting its home court is critical as it aims to climb the standings. For Jairis, the game represents an opportunity to solidify its playoff positioning and avenge its earlier one-point loss to this opponent.

Following this game, Jairis will host Araski on April 12. Joventut Badalona travels to face Innova-TSN on April 11.

Tip-off is scheduled for Wednesday evening in Badalona.
