Preview: Cadi La Seu at Joventut Badalona

BADAJONA, Spain (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum in a crowded middle of the Liga Femenina table will meet Wednesday when Joventut Badalona hosts Cadi La Seu.

The matchup features identical 5-9 records, with both sides coming off narrow losses on Sunday. Joventut fell 66-62 at Baxi Ferrol, while Cadi La Seu dropped a 70-66 decision to Ensino.

A key battle will be inside, where Joventut’s Brittany Brewer faces a Cadi La Seu frontcourt coming off a strong rebounding performance. Brewer, a forward, is averaging 9.8 points and 6.0 rebounds over her last four games, including a 14-point, 6-rebound effort in the loss to Ferrol. For Cadi La Seu, guard Laia Raventos has provided a recent scoring spark, erupting for 15 points in just 14 minutes in a Jan. 4 win over Estepona after a quiet stretch offensively.

Cadi La Seu has struggled for consistency, alternating wins and losses over its past six games. Its offense stalled in a 57-point outing against Ensino last weekend. Joventut has found wins hard to come by lately, losing four of its last five, but three of those defeats were by six points or fewer, including a one-point heartbreaker to powerhouse Avenida on Dec. 14.

The home team will look to capitalize on its court advantage at Pavelló Olímpic de Badalona. Joventut won the season’s first meeting between these teams, 80-74, on Oct. 19.

Wednesday’s contest is the first of two meetings between the clubs in a six-week span, with the rematch scheduled for March 22 in Seu d’Urgell. With the league table tightly packed, the result could prove crucial for postseason positioning.
