Landerneau at Poznan

POZNAN (Interstat) — Landerneau will try to bounce back from a loss when it visits Poznan on Wednesday in a women’s professional basketball game.

Landerneau enters 1-3 after an 83-61 home loss to Flammes in its most recent outing. Harmoni Turner led Landerneau with 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists in 32 minutes. Masseny Kaba added 12 points and seven rebounds, while Caroline Heriaud finished with five points, six assists and one block. Turner, the primary player to watch for Landerneau, has been the team’s most reliable offensive option. She scored 29 points in a 74-59 win at Villeneuve and added 15 points against Angers. Landerneau’s lone victory this season came at Villeneuve. Earlier this season, Landerneau also lost at Bourges 81-67. Landerneau will look for more balance around Turner after managing 61 points in its most recent game. Turner has scored in double figures in each of her last three games.

Poznan enters 3-1 and is coming off a 72-56 home win against Sosnowiec. Anna Jakubiuk paced Poznan with 19 points and seven rebounds in 21 minutes. Laura Miskiniene contributed nine points and 13 rebounds, and Feyonda Fitzgerald scored 15 points with four assists. Jakubiuk, the player to watch for Poznan, has helped the team win three of its first four games. She had seven points and two rebounds against Wisla Krakow and four points with three rebounds at Basket 25 Bydgoszcz. Poznan’s only loss came at Kibirkstis Vilnius. The team has also beaten Basket 25 Bydgoszcz and Wisla Krakow during its strong start. Jakubiuk has scored 19, four and seven points in her last three games.

The matchup features Landerneau’s need for offense against a Poznan team that has found balanced production. Landerneau has dropped its most recent game and will look to Turner to create scoring chances. Poznan has won three in a row and will rely on Jakubiuk inside and on the boards. Poznan has allowed 56 or fewer points in two of its last three games. Landerneau has allowed at least 66 points in three of four games. Landerneau is scheduled to visit La Tronche Meylan after this game, while Poznan is set to travel to Lublin. Landerneau will then host Fribourg, Charnay and Derthona in a busy stretch. Poznan will then visit Derthona, with a home game against Jelenia Gora and a trip to Fribourg to follow. Both teams are scheduled to meet again at Landerneau later in the season.

Interstat’s game simulator projects Poznan to beat Landerneau 78-70. The final score projection favors the home team by eight points.
